Y Balance Test
The Y-Balance Test is a functional test for examining the motor control of an athlete and can be used for both the lower body (lower extremities) and the upper body (upper extremities). The test can be used after an injury or as a primary preventive measure to determine whether an athlete (still) has deficits in an area that would be an indication for further measures. Strength, mobility, neuromuscular control, trunk stability and range of motion during movement in three directions are tested. By summarizing the results, the examiner receives a good overall impression of any asymmetries and the course of a therapy or training measure. For us, for example, the Y-Balance test is an important criterion in the decision-making process as to whether an athlete can return to his or her sport after an injury.
