Electro and ultrasound therapy

Overview: What is electrotherapy?

Electrotherapy uses the power of electrical currents or current pulses to activate and support the body’s natural healing processes. Depending on the area of application, low, medium or high frequency forms of current are used, which are generally very well tolerated. This can happen not only directly, but also indirectly, by converting electrical energy into heat or mechanical energy. In many cases, electrotherapy is a useful alternative or complementary form of therapy.

Indications

Possible indications for the use of electrotherapy are: Pain syndromes in the musculoskeletal system, myogelosis, muscle strains, paralysis, myasthenia, incontinence (when the pelvic floor or bladder muscles are weakened), functional circulatory disorders, arterial occlusive disease in stages 1 and 2, chronic polyarthritis, arthrosis, Bechterew’s disease

Treatment goals of electrotherapy

Pain relief, improvement of blood circulation, restoration of disturbed muscle function, prevention of muscle loss (atrophy prophylaxis), repeated movement to initiate central paralysis, influencing vegetative processes (e.g. increased sweating)
